Job Description

AViD Technical Resources is seeking a Remote CDI Specialist for their Health Care client in Los Angeles

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate in Health Information Science or Bachelors in Health Information Management, or completion of courses in ICD-10-CM, ICD10-PCS and CPT-4/HCPCS coding from an accredited coding program or comparable level of education preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience with Surgical Procedural Coding and Ambulatory Care Coding.
    • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT-4/HCPCS and modifier usage and working knowledge of APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic and CPT Assistant.
  • Licensure / Certification: CCS required, RHIA or RHIT preferred.
  • Other: Demonstrated ability to work with all internal and external customers in a professional manner. Ability to assist in orientation and training of new employees and students. Provide guidance and training for new / trainee coders
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Codes all records within the established departmental quality standards (95%)
  2. Meets established departmental productivity standards of 2-3 inpatient accounts per hour
  3. Always prioritizes high dollar and old accounts in an effort to keep the accounts receivable to an absolute minimum
  4. Maintains required credential and CEUs per policy (20 hours annually)
  5. Communicates to Coding Supervisor and/or Director any concerns regarding coding, documentation, and departmental issues
  6. Assists with the training of new staff, students, volunteers and contracted staff
  7. Attends all Medical Coding meetings as required
  8. Consistently and accurately abstracts additional data elements as required, e.g. OSHPD elements, special studies, etc.
  9. 3M 360 Encompass is used to access coding work queues for working on all medical records.
  10. In collaboration with the CDI team, it has been the Coder’s responsibility in completing specific cases in a timely manner when sent for reconciliation. Productive coding hours are determined by calculating total coding hours worked, less mandatory education and less non-productive time for a total of productive hours worked
