Engineer (II)
Department: Service and Support
Reports to: Team Lead (either Implementation or Engineer)
General Summary:
Engineer II’s are demonstrating competence in all the most common and popular
networking technologies. In addition to strong technical aptitude backed by at least 4 years
of relevant experience, this person is capable of delivering solutions when the lower tier
technical resources could not. This person should be prompt and/or know the importance
of communicating ETA's to clients. The primary responsibility of this role is to solve
problems in environments rich in Microsoft Server, Exchange, SQL, IIS, networking, VPNs,
firewalls, backups, Linux, UNIX and more. The more truly capable the engineer is in all
these areas, the higher the utility value.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Active Directory
  •  User Accounts including creating new users, PW resets, manage accounts

Other Considerations
  •  DAILY time entry accounting for at least 8 hours in the form of Resolution Notes in Service Tickets
  • Monthly billing should be at least 75% or more of a typical month of about 170 hours available
  • Regular and timely completion of Minimum Documentation Standards for each client
  • This role will perform both in-house (remote) as well as onsite support
  • On-going self-training to preserve professional viability is a must
  • Execution and conclusion of projects/tickets on-time and/or successful
  • management of client expectations when targets cannot be met
  • Good communication with Account Managers and Team Leader with regards
  • to events and changes transpiring at client sites
  • Ability to communicate with the client at all levels from IT personnel to CxO’s
  • and to understand business issues in the context of IT issues

Credentials and Experience:
  • Engineer with a minimum of 4 years’ experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience - Active Directory Support, Microsoft Windows and Windows Server Support, Microsoft Exchange Support
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience - Switching/VLAN/Routing/Firewall Support
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience - Mobile Messaging Technologies (Blackberry Enterprise ActiveSync) Support
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience - Server Hardware Technologies (CPU/RAID/SCSI) Support
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience - Data Backup and Recovery Support, Corporate
  • Antivirus Support, VPN Connectivity Support
  • Have at least two of the following certifications: MCSA/MCITP/MCSE,
  • CCNA/CCDA/CCVP/CCIE, VCP, VCA, Project+, Network+, Watchguard

Pay: Base + Bonus in Engineer Incentive Plan at 15%

  • Billing at a rate which exceeds the percentage of utilization assigned by the Services Supervisor or Management
  • Strong positive client feedback at the individual level
  • Considered to be a subject matter expert in at least three areas
  • Takes strong initiatives towards expanding personal development both inside and outside work. Has a well defined personal development plan, and consistently reviews performance.
