Job Description

The division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Project Manager. The Project manager role is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management in order to deliver business value.
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems or related field; project management and/or general business management, or equivalent related IT experience. PM training and certification desirable, but not required. This role is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary project teams and hold team members accountable to deliver results within an agreed project governance structure to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the life of the program. Our range of solutions and services combine the physical and virtual meeting space to make classes and meetings as simple and as seamless as possible. Building and integrating collaboration technology requires knowledge, experience, and vision.  In this role you will be the face of the teams and responsible for addressing audio visual, networking, connectivity, and security solution support.  You will ensure transparency across ITS and the university. Additionally, you'll ensure compliance with enterprise technology policies, coordinate project requests, and deliver on operational tasks.

  • Five or more years of IT experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
  • Three or more years of business unit (BU) or BU-facing experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager in the construction or technology industries preferred
  • Experience managing large, multi-phase projects preferred
  • Commercially astute with a good understanding of service contracts or comparable IT Networking experience
  • Good working knowledge in all Networking and Security disciplines
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams room systems
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing cross functional and technical teams
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in successfully utilizing "soft skills" or "people skills"

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
  • Demonstrated application of project management methodologies (for example, PMI and agile)
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a political environment and to interacting with senior leadership
  • Demonstrated application of project planning tools including Microsoft Project and Jira
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations
  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, as this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources
  • Effective remote team management skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Demonstrated success in partnering with functional project manager.
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures that the right people are in the right place doing the right things at the right time
  • Effective escalation of issues with recommended solutions.
  • Strong vendor management skills
