Job Description

Responsibilities Include
  • Solicit input and requirements from Communications Infrastructure team as well as customers to identify opportunities for automation
  • Prioritize and document efforts-based return of investment metrics
  • Communicate and socialize framework, design, planning, and progress to affected parties
  • Develop/deploy an automation platform and a library of scalable automation scripts that can be leveraged by Communications Infrastructure team to enhance efficiency of configuration, operation, monitoring and reporting of network infrastructure and systems
  • Create and populate a “single source of truth” database of network configuration information and infrastructure documentation, migrating data from existing legacy systems where necessary
  • Integrate coordinated components and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, monitoring systems, ServiceNow, Aruba ClearPass, Active Directory, IPAM, inventory tracking, etc.
  • Develop a network monitoring and reporting framework in support of Network Engineering and Operations leveraging the FCAPS and/or FAB framework
  • Document monitoring and reporting requirements
  • Work with the PMO to document and report on the progress of Communications Infrastructure initiatives via a web dashboard
 

Technical Skills

  • Languages: Python, Perl, Shell, SQL
  • Web development frameworks
  • Experience with REST APIs, XML, and/or NETCONF
  • Automation frameworks: Ansible/Chef/Puppet
  • Network automation: Netmiko/Napalm/Nornir
  • DCIM: Netbox/Nautobot
  • IPAM, DNS, DHCP
  • Experience with Juniper, Aruba, Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, EfficientIP a plus

General Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group, leadership, and executive presentations.
  • Deep hands-on experience leading the design, development and deployment of network automation technology infrastructure and single source of truth databases
  • Extensive experience in developing monitoring and reporting systems
  • Deep hands-on experience in developing and writing automation scripts and integrations for configuration, monitoring, and reporting

 Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with network automation, web development, or similar
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience with networking or systems administration

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Network Automation
  • Experience working with DevOps methodologies
  • Exceptional planning and project implementation skills to achieve high visibility solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and balance workload in a high-demand environment
  • Previous experience in Higher Education environments
