AVID Technical Resources is seeking a Senior Field Services Technician to work with our Higher Education cilent in Los Angeles

The Senior Field Services Technician functions as a lead technician in the installation, maintenance and repair of communications technology and equipment. The incumbent is responsible for a high level of technical expertise and the assumption of a leadership role in resolving problems in the field, ensuring productivity and adherence to deadlines and due dates, and participating in overall quality control. 

•    Detailed knowledge regarding the installation, maintenance, and repair requirements of the range of state-of-art installed in the facilities.
•    Ability to interpret technical documents pertaining to communications interface devices on state-of-the-art telecommunications systems.
•    Knowledge of industry safety standards including those pertaining to work in construction sites, small crawl spaces, close to electrical circuitry and with the variety of installation tools.
•    Infrastructure cabling, fiber optics (circuit installation and testing experience), TDM and VoIP Switching platform experience, VoIP Phones, copper cabling termination to Split 50, 66 Block and BICS Block terminals, Patch Panels and Fiber Distribution Panel terminations. 
•    Ability to perform line and cable fault isolation tests, and work in conjunction with utility or interconnect technicians and campus department personnel to resolve related problems.
•     Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) and excellent customer service.
•    Working knowledge of and ability to correctly apply the principles, industry acronyms, and standard methods of IT Services engineering, and the ability to utilize appropriate information resources.
•    Ability to set priorities effectively reflecting an accurate understanding of the current workload and relative criticality of projects.
•    Interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and effectively with persons of varying background and levels of authority.
•    Ability to work independently or as a member of a team with equal effectiveness 
•    Effective communications skills including the ability to provide one on one training for new technicians and clearly explain technical issues or problems to both technical and non-technical personnel.
•    Ability to lift 50 pounds in weight. 
•    Valid California driver's license, with no work-related driving restrictions.
•    Ability to work effectively in a complex environment involving rapidly changing priorities, heavy workloads, extended hours, physical disruptions, and highly fluid authority structures.
•    Ability to work mandatory overtime as assigned.
•    Logical reasoning skills to apply technical expertise to IT Services installation or repair problems and determine optimal solutions.
•    Writing skills to complete documentation clearly and correctly, meeting Professional standards.
