Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor to the Nursing Department, providing consultative HR support across talent management, employee relations, organizational development, compensation, and workforce planning. This role partners with nursing leadership to align HR strategies with operational and clinical business objectives while driving organizational effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership & Leadership

  • Partner with nursing leadership to provide coaching and guidance on organizational design, change management, leadership development, and employee engagement.

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support departmental and organizational goals.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor by identifying business challenges and designing practical HR solutions.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide employee relations expertise and ensure compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable employment laws.

  • Investigate workplace concerns and recommend appropriate resolutions.

  • Support leaders in performance management and employee matters.

Talent & Organizational Development

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support recruitment and workforce planning for nursing teams.

  • Collaborate with internal HR functions on compensation, benefits, training, recognition, and performance programs.

  • Support restructuring initiatives, workforce assessments, succession planning, and change implementation efforts.

  • Lead or support organization-wide HR programs such as merit and bonus cycles.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of HR best practices and healthcare industry trends.

  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and committees as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field required

  • Master’s degree preferred

Certifications

  • SPHR or similar certification preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including business partnership within a large organization or complex business unit

  • Experience supporting represented employees and multiple bargaining agreements required

  • Prior experience supporting nursing or clinical functions preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and core HR functions

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and change management skills

  • Ability to influence and collaborate with leaders at all levels

  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)

  • Strong presentation and communication skills
