Sr. Desktop Application Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Desktop Application Engineer to join a high-performing IT team supporting enterprise-level virtual and physical desktop environments. This role focuses on optimizing the performance, reliability, and security of desktop applications and OS platforms across the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Windows environments, VDI systems, and endpoint management tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain secure, scalable Windows desktop infrastructure based on industry best practices
• Certify and troubleshoot application deployments to ensure compatibility with enterprise standards
• Automate software delivery: applications, patches, hotfixes, and security updates
• Manage desktop image lifecycle, including standard image development and Group Policy (GPO) maintenance
• Coordinate and execute desktop security updates and client-side software changes
• Work with internal teams and vendors to resolve application and infrastructure issues
• Lead cross-functional projects related to desktop modernization and technology rollouts
• Provide advanced support for VDI environments, including Horizon View, vSphere, and related tools
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and project plans
• Contribute to IT change management processes and production readiness
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation for escalated support

• 5–7+ years of enterprise desktop engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS and desktop imaging best practices
• Expertise in MECM/SCCM, GPO, Active Directory, and application packaging (Flexera AdminStudio preferred)
• Scripting with PowerShell, VBScript, or equivalent languages
• Familiarity with VMware Horizon View and vCenter
• Experience managing both physical and virtual desktop environments
• Working knowledge of endpoint security (BitLocker, AV tools), networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS), and Citrix XenApp
• Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and customer service skills
• Ability to lead desktop-related projects and multitask in high-demand settings
• Prior experience in a professional services or highly regulated environment preferred
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes
