Description:
  • Coordination and implementation of infrastructure and hardware within IT closets
  • Coordination with vendors for implementation of inter and intra building IT cabling needs
  • Prepares procurement specifications, evaluates bids for low voltage and telecommunications work.
  • Conceptualize plans, details and sections to accurately convey construction/installation requirements.
  • Telecommunication and low voltage system design, technical analyses and resolution of engineering problems
  • Telecommunications and low voltage system equipment selection, specifications and cost estimates
  • Designs, sizes and specifies equipment/systems, including;
    • Telecommunications cable plants and pathways both OSP and ISP
    • Telecommunications system equipment selection
    • Rack layouts and elevations
    • Telecommunications room layouts
    • Low voltage signal systems including paging, fire alarm, security, CCTV and miscellaneous systems
    • Performs calculations using specialized engineering similar software, including;
      • MDF/IDF room and equipment sizing
      • Cable/ Tray Fill
  • Ability to collaborate with construction firms to identify and document infrastructure requirements
    • Ability to read/ edit construction drawings and documents 
  • Coordination with clients, with other engineering disciplines, with vendors, and with construction contractors. 
  • Checks and back-checks documents and drawings produced by other engineers and drafting personnel.
  • Manage workload and work priorities to ensure customer expectations are set, communicated, and met.
  • Manage the use cases and utilization of telecomm closets and ancillary spaces
  • Participation in tracking and managing inventory in relation to infrastructure projects and support of Communication Infrastructure team
  • Infrastructure and IT closet maintenance and currency
    • Closet standard currency
    • UPS preventative maintenance schedule and execution
    • ISP and OSP current capabilities and usage tracking
Experience:
  • RCDD or working towards obtaining RCDD / Registered Communications Distribution Designer Certification is preferred
  • Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or relative experience is required
  • Successful candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) years' experience working on telecommunications, and low voltage systems design including security systems, access control, CCTV, Audio/Visual for a variety of facilities, preferably in the commercial, industrial, correctional and educational industries
  • Strong computer skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Candidate shall possess working knowledge of industry standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, NFPA, UFC's and relevant NEMA, NFPA, and UL Standards.
