Job Description

AVID Technical Resources is seeking an experienced IT Service Continuity /Disaster Recovery Lead for our Higher Education client in Los Angeles to develop and lead their IT service continuity and disaster recovery capabilities in a hybrid, FTE position.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. IT Services' efforts related to information technology service continuity, disaster recovery and contingency planning.
  2. Serving as IT Recovery Lead, oversee
    • The development of IT Recovery Plans in accordance with company policy; brief leadership on the progress of IT recovery planning;
    • The testing, evaluation, and updates of IT recovery plans
    • Execution of IT recovery plans, monitoring IT recovery, reporting progress, performing post-event analysis, and updating plans based on lessons learned
  3. Collaborate with campus units to assign recovery level classifications
  4. Support incident and crisis response efforts
  5. Create, maintain, and test standard service continuity plans
  6. Conduct regular tabletop service level exercises
  7. Conduct an annual disaster recovery exercises
  8. Support service owners in completing IT recovery plans, criticality assessments, and business impact analyses.
  9. After plan execution, work with incident managers in completing root cause analysis findings and tracking corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience working within Information Technology; substantial experience with information systems management, including networking, systems administration, database administration, and/or information security standards and practices.
  • Significant experience in overseeing IT Disaster Recovery; skilled in disaster recovery planning practices, techniques and technologies; ability to conduct continual risk analysis of IT operations to formulate plans for recovery.
  • Possesses excellent strategic, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience; ability to develop and maintain structured project plans using common project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Security and five years of experience OR combination of relevant professional experience and education.
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional, Certified Functional Continuity Professional, or equivalent certification (preferred)
