AVID Technical Resources is seeking an Information Security- Governance, Risk, and Compliance Consultant to support our client in Los Angeles, CA. The pay is $65- $75/hour DOE.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in information security compliance, privacy, data protection, and disaster recovery.
- Proven expertise in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) across regulatory frameworks such as FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, GDPR, and optionally PCI DSS.
- Hands-on experience conducting data discovery, classification, and compliance gap assessments.
- Knowledge of business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) planning, including tabletop exercises and recovery testing.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in higher education or similarly complex organizational environments.
- Experience conducting security audits and assessments aligned with NIST, ISO 27001, and HIPAA standards.
- Prior engagement with cross-functional teams including IT, Legal, Risk, and Data Governance groups.
Key Skills:
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to institutional processes.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- CISA, CISM, GRCP, CGEIT, CISSP, CIRSC, CIPP/US, or equivalent.
